As is the tradition, everyone involved in the Mountain Bike World Cup voted for the best 2007 event. Prize winning riders and teams, journalists and UCI sponsors had their say and elected Houffalize, Schladming and Villabassa the best 2007 events. It was an outright win for the Austrian ski station Schladming where the quality of the tracks and organization gained undisputed favour. Maribor’s downhill course together with its warm public, also seduced the voters. The Slovene town, back in the World Cup after four years’ absence, is placed second in front of Mont-Sainte-Anne, Canada, which is also appreciated for its downhill race and unique atmosphere. Results: 1. Schladming 2. Maribor 3. Monte-Sainte-Anne. Cross-country marathon As for the latest addition to the Mountain Bike World Cup disciplines, it is Villabassa who will receive the winning trophy: a good omen for 2008 as the Italian town will host the UCI Marathon World Championshis in July 2008! ![]() |
